We all know how important it is to have a good internet connection. But a fast connection can only be as good as your router. Because we run a vacation rental it is important for us to have both a fast connection and a fast router so that people feel like they are at home. I hate going to hotels and the Wi-Fi speed feels like dialup. Enter Samsung SmartThings Wifi.
The Samsung SmartThings Wifi is a mesh router and comes with 3 hubs that you place around your property to provide fast coverage all over. It is super simple to set up. You basically just plug it in, open the SmartThings app, and follow the step by step instructions. Then you plug in the other two and do the same. It took about 5 minutes. It uses Plume AI-based mesh Wi-Fi optimization technology so that when you walk around your house you are automatically connected to the best hub for your connection. There are also easy parental controls and the ability to quickly disconnect users and monitor their data usage. You can also give friends or family a special password that works just for them and limit their ability to access some Wi-Fi devices. This is super helpful for a vacation rental too as we don’t want our guests accessing some of our security features.
One of the other benefits of using the Samsung SmartThings Wifi is that you can connect it to hundreds of smart home devices as well. It has the SmartThings hub built in so you don’t need another device to plug in besides the routers. Which is another reason we want it for our rental. We have smart bulbs, door locks, temperature sensors, air conditioners, and TVs that we connect to the hub. And since they are all connected to one hub it makes it really easy to monitor and adjust them from one app!
Our property is on about a half an acre of land so we have one of the hubs in the detached garage so that people will have full coverage no matter where they are. It allows them to work, browse, or post photos outside in the beautiful desert air. And because of the Plume adaptive technology the guests are always connected to the fastest hub and accessing the fastest connection.
